Solarstone is a strong advocate for “pure trance” and has openly criticised how commercial the genre became.

Solarstone’s original 1999 version of “Seven Cities” is much slower and more progressive than the versions most people know.
Later remixes pushed it toward trance, but purists still argue the original has the real magic. This argument has been running quietly for over 20 years and shows no sign of stopping.

Solarstone created “Seven Cities” as a deeply personal, almost spiritual track inspired by ancient mythology, lost cities, and the idea of journey rather than destination. It was never meant to be a chart hit, just a mood.
